October Wedding at Mwnt Church (Eglwys y Grog)

Updated: Feb 5

Our fresh flower season currently runs from April until the end of October. This is because, from November the flowers start to dwindle as the number of daylight hours reduces and the weather becomes colder and wetter, so we switch focus and are busy tidying up the market garden and preparing for the following year. Therefore October is very special to us, each stem is precious and we finally get a bumper crop of our favourite Chrysanthemum varieties!

When Hettie and Liam first contacted us we were very excited as they were totally chilled out about what flowers they had. The priority was having seasonal, locally grown flowers and Hettie opted for an asymmetrical bridal bouquet and Liam for a pocket square boutonnière instead of a traditional lapel pin buttonhole. These are great as you don't need to worry about fiddly pins, they literally just slip into the hanky pocket on your suit and is a very modern and chic choices.

Hettie's assymetrical bouquet was inspired by October sunsets, which, in our humble opinion boast the best sunsets of the year, particularly on the West Wales coast. Dahlia's, Roses, Scabious, Verbascum and loads of gorgeous Chrysanthemum were blended with grasses, berries and Autumnal foliage to represent the best of the season.

Hettie and Liam wanted a really small wedding with just their nearest and dearest present and Holy Cross Church, Mwnt (Or to give it the proper Welsh name Eglwys y Grog) is super small and cute, so it doesn't feel empty with a small wedding party. It sits on the cliff top at the absolutely beautiful Mwnt beach, creating an elopement vibe (It also has some amazing views).

We completely fell in love with Hettie's beautiful Ivory Blush gown, which had a real vintage feel but with a modern twist and the sleeves were just perfect for the October temperatures. For the bridesmaid's bouquets, Hettie opted for 2 DIY buckets, which comfortably made 4 bridesmaid's bouquets. We dropped everything off the day before the wedding, and the bridal party spent the evening having fun creating the bouquets as a group activity. This is a really lovely way to get everyone involved and feeling included, plus it saves a few pennies too!

So much joy and happiness

The wonderful photos were taken the very lovely and talented Leia Mia Weddings a locally based photographer who we've worked before and would highly recommend if you're looking for natural editorial style wedding pictures.

After the wedding ceremony the couple and their friends and family headed back to Fforest Farm, where they were based for the weekend. As well as a wedding venue in it's own right, Fforest also offers accommodation for large groups wanting to get away together. It has the cutest tiny pub on site as well as a sauna, wild swimming and offers unique Spa breaks. Well worth checking out!

After the wedding Hettie got in touch with us and said 'The flowers were stunning. Liam and I loved the sentiment of them being locally grown in the Preseli’s… He even went for a short hike there on Friday afternoon with the men of the group. They were beautiful, exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you.'
