A Romantic Coast Wedding at The Cliff Hotel and Spa
Updated: 3 hours ago
There is something wildly romantic about a coastal wedding, and in West Wales we’re very spoilt with dramatic cliff tops and vast sandy beaches. This beautiful windswept celebration at The Cliff Hotel & Spa fully embraced the epic backdrop.
Inspired by the colours of the surrounding coastline, Mariah and Lewis chose a soft, romantic pastel palette, bringing together delicate pinks, lilacs, soft blues and gentle touches of buttery yellow. The result was a relaxed, natural floral style, full of movement, texture and seasonal charm.
Originally planned for an outdoor setting, the weather had other ideas! With wild winds sweeping across the clifftop, we made the decision to bring the flowers inside. Fortunately, the beautiful light-filled room at The Cliff Hotel provided a lovely alternative, creating an intimate setting for the ceremony while still allowing the coastal landscape to remain part of the day.

Romantic, natural and inspired by the seasons
The overall look was soft and abundant, with a romantic mix of pastel colours and plenty of natural movement. We used peonies, foxgloves, campanulas and nigella mixed with textural ammi, alchemilla, seed pods and grasses, classic flowers for June, all grown by us a few miles down the road.
We wanted the flowers to feel as though they belonged in their surroundings, complementing the coastal setting rather than competing with it.

From the ceremony installation to the bridal bouquet and smaller floral details, everything came together to create a cohesive, relaxed and romantic atmosphere.

Although the weather meant a change of plans, the flowers looked just as beautiful indoors, proving that a little flexibility can sometimes lead to something unexpectedly lovely.
Mariah and Lewis still had their moment in the cliffs though, captured beautifully by Daniella Marinos Photography. We’re obsessed with Mariah’s vintage puffed-sleeve dress, complemented perfectly by Lewis’ brown tweed appliquéd suit.
Flowers that could be enjoyed throughout the day
One of the key features of the floral design was a generous, ground-level floral arch, created to frame the couple during their ceremony.

Rather than being a floral installation that was enjoyed just once, we designed the arrangement with its next chapter in mind.
Following the ceremony, the ground arch was carefully repurposed into a beautiful display in front of the wedding cake created by and floral accents either side of the top table.
I love creating flowers that can be moved and enjoyed in different ways throughout a wedding day. Not only does this make the most of the flowers, but it is also a more sustainable approach to floristry and allows the floral story to continue as guests move from one part of the celebration to another.
Although the weather meant a change of plans, the flowers looked just as intentional indoors, proving that a little flexibility can sometimes lead to something unexpectedly lovely.
It was a pleasure to create the flowers for this special day at The Cliff Hotel & Spa, and a lovely reminder that whatever the Welsh weather has in store, beautiful wedding flowers can always find their place.
